Our story

Our story

One product, made properly, sold without the theatrics.

Walk down the cat aisle and you get two kinds of product.

The first is beige filler: a wall of near-identical toys designed to be cheap to make and easy to stock, most of which get one polite sniff and then live under the couch for the rest of their natural lives.

The second is panic marketing. Countdown timers. Numbers invented on the spot. Photographs of diseased teeth deployed to make you feel like a negligent person if you close the tab. It works well enough on enough people that the whole category now smells faintly of it.

We wanted to make the third thing.

One product, made properly

Quilo makes silvervine sticks. That's the entire catalogue, and we'd rather it stayed that way. It's easier to be honest about one thing you make carefully than fifty things you don't.

The standard we hold it to is short enough to print on the box:

  • Untreated Actinidia polygama — silvervine wood, no coatings, no oils, no added scent.
  • Gall fruit worked in, because that's the part of the plant cats respond to most.
  • A sisal wrap for bite resistance, and raffia tassels for the crinkle.
  • Hand-tied, so the wrap holds up to a cat that means it.

Four ingredients, all of them plants. If we can't say what something is doing in there, it doesn't go in there.

What we'll tell you about the science

Silvervine works on about four out of five cats, and on most cats that ignore catnip. That comes from published research, and we cite it rather than paraphrasing it into something more flattering.

Chewing fibrous material helps with plaque. That's a mechanical effect, it's real, and it is not a substitute for veterinary care. We're not going to dress it up as medicine, because it isn't.

What we're actually selling is a better afternoon for an indoor cat: something to hunt, chew, and then sleep off.

Our promises

No fake countdowns. No "only 3 left." No invented reviews. No disease panic. Just a good stick, real research, and a 90-day guarantee.
